Pakistan: Woman Swallows Poison Along With 8 Kids

LODHRAN: In a barbaric act, a mother along with her eight children allegedly swallowed poisonous substance that caused killing of four of them in Lodhran, local media reported.

As per the details, Janat Mai took the inhumane step after her brother refused to conduct marriages of his children with sister’s children under watta-satta (Relationship exchange).

After refusal, the accused added poison to food, which was eaten by all the eight children and her. Subsequently, they were shifted to hospital where four of the children were died, while another four and their mother were saved by doctors. The incident happened on August 09,2017.

On suspicious, an uncle of children asked police to arrest Janat Mai, who later confessed of poisoning her children.

The police have registered the case against the mother, her sister and nephew and have started investigation.

There was no information yet whether she was facing any pressure from her husband or his family for agreeing her brother for watta-satta.
