All Set For PP-23 By-Polls Today In Chakwal

CHAKWAL: All the arrangements have been finalised for PP-23 (Chakwal-IV) by-elections scheduled to be held today. The ECP has set up 199 polling stations while the Rangers will assist the district administration to maintain the law and order situation.
Eight candidates are in the run for the slot. However, a close contest is expected between Malik Sheharyar Awan of the PMLN and Sultan Surkhru of the PTI. The PMLQ, JI and PAT are supporting the PTI candidate.

PTI chief Imran Khan and MNA Hamza Shahbaz had addressed election meetings of their respective candidates. JUI-F ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman had visited Talagang and announced supporting the PMLN candidate. PTI central leader Jehangir Tareen addressed a big public meeting at Tumman village on Sunday, which was attended by thousands of people. The seat fell vacant after the death of Malik Zahoor Anwar of the PMLN, who had won the 2013 general elections with the margin of more than 9,000 votes.
